Silver Time

Friday 11th Aug 06 09:20am

We just celebrated our Nation's birthday a few days ago. National Day itself was a busy day for me.

But more on that later.

On Monday, Cheen Cheen from Aikido HQ called me up to relief Alfred as Leader for Tampines Dojo. Since It's close by me anyway, i said ok. I mean, it's not as if i have never took classes there before.

Then Cheen Cheen sent me an SMS that almost floored me. Our chief instructor, a 6th Dan holder in Aikido, wanted to INVITE me for Dinner.

Like. What the Hell.

But then it turned out that it was just a simple dinner invitation with the rest of the Intructors/Leaders that our chief has more impression on. Apparently he bought these tickets to some NDP Dinner held by the CCs.

Even so, It's a great Honour to be invited by the chief for dinner right?

On the morning of National Day itself, I went down to International Building for brunch at the Rice Table with my Star Trek friends. I took a quick bite of the food and then had to rush down to Sommerset to meet my natural father who just got back from China for a few days.

It was worth every second.

Me, my sis and dad went to Marina Square's Jack's Place for lunch. Yes, directly after brunch, i had to eat again. LOL.

We had Seafood Salad, my sis and i had a black pepper steak each, my dad ordered a grilled lobster and seafood in a basket. I had Fruit Punch for my drink, My sis had Lime juice and my dad Mango juice.

Like..... WOW right?

Words cannot describe the feeling i had when the three of us are together. The chats, the laughter. It's really priceless. There are no burdens. No masks. It's REAL. Added with the good food.

How can it NOT be a good time?

Alas. Good things never lasts forever. We actually had such a good time we never realised that it was already after 4pm when we checked the time. My sis had to go down to the stadium for the NDP Parade.

LUCKY DEVIL. Hate her. Ok.... i don't hate her. But she's still bad for not inviting me either. Even though it was her good friend who gave her that ticket.

Before my dad drove her there though, we dropped by Suntec City to pick up our Charmed Season 1 DVDs. Oh..... brings back memories huh? LOL. I personally like the first few seasons with Prue in it better. Dunno about you guys. Paige is just.... not the same.

So my dad sent me home after dropping my sis off at Kallang MRT. We actually had to detour abit because i was afraid that the folks at home will suddenly drive their expensive cars out and spot me with my dad.

Then all HELL, and i kid you not, WILL BREAK LOOSE.

It's really silly right? My own dad, and a house i live in. But, i still have to behave like a Ninja. I felt as if i was in some spy novel.

After i rested at home for a bit, I went down to Yishun Northpoint to meet up with Lester and Eddie. Then we went down to Jalan Kayu to have dinner. Yes.... EAT again. We had prata and curry. It had been a long time since i last saw Lester and Eddie. It was nice to just share a meal together and talk roosters for that few hours. Just to catch up with life and stuff. They came over to my place and after awhile, i drove them home.

So National Day was quite busy and eventful for me, no?

On other personal news, I will be taking my Black Belt grading soon. However, our Dojo's instructor KuahSan is on course and will only be back on Sept, which is already my grading month. The relief Instructor is an Indian Chief. I don't like that fella. Throwing his weight around. SHEESH.

I can't only think of myself either. Knowing the teaching methods of this relief instructor, i decided that to ensure my Dojo mates have the confidence to take the coming grading, most of them are either going for brown or black belts, i have decided to arrange for extra lessons JUST to practise on the exam moves.

I can be many things. But my Dojo Mates still comes first. Whether they appriciate it or not, it's a totally different matter. So long as i'm a leader there, i'll be responsible.

But arrangeing something like this is not easy..... Wish me luck ok?
